This weekend I listened to a few newfound Pat Metheny Podcasts thanks to an email from his webmaster. I re-discovered some Song –X and relived some realizations about Ornette and Pat.

The real deal is that both Pat Metheny and Ornette Coleman continue to be a huge impact on my life and musical concept, but after hearing Pat talk about ‘New York is Now’ I am ever more convinced that Ornette is one of the guys that will remain in my cd player. Let me be clear, I really respect Pat Metheny in the same way that people relate to Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, or Larry Bird. Generations from now people will still be looking at the ripples in the pond left by the lives of individuals like such.
